ADB cuts growth forecast for 2002

The Asian Development Bank in November forecast that China's economy would grow by 7 per cent in 2002. In April 2001 it had predicted that China would achieve a growth rate of 7.5 per cent in 2002. However, its forecast for 2001 remained unchanged at 7.3 per cent. The Bank expects China's robust domestic sector to offset weaker exports caused by the global economic slowdown.
