China will receive US$4.5 billion in loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) over the next three years.
The 2004 to 2006 loans are a sharp increase from the average of about US$1 billion in loans extended each year between 1998 and 2002.
The ADB said about 84 percent of the loans will be for projects in the poorer central and western regions of the country.
