The Asian Development Bank has approved a US$124m loan to promote an integrated road system in Shanxi province. Part of the project will involve the construction of a 65km four-lane toll expressway from Houma to Yumenkou, including a 4.5km-long bridge over the Yellow River to establish a new connection to neighbouring Shaanxi province. The expressway will form part of the Taiyuan-Xian corridor, which in turn is part of a 3,600km road system stretching from Inner Mongolia to Yunnan province.
