Adidas, Nike supplier says worker strike resolved

Taiwanese shoemaker Yue Yuen Industrial Holdings (0551.HKG) on Wednesday announced the end of a one-day strike at its Zhuhai factory in southern China, Bloomberg reported, citing a company spokesman. Workers went on strike July 21 over slow processing of post payment applications for social insurance contributions, but “at this point all the misunderstanding has been resolved,” said the spokesman, Jerry Shum. This week’s shutdown is the second for the company this year, after employees in Dongguan staged a week-long protest in April over social security payments and salaries. Yue Yuen makes shoes for clients including Adidas (ADS.ETR) and Nike (NKE.NYSE, NKE.ETR).
