Agreement reached on Siberian pipeline

Russia and China have agreed to build a pipeline to carry natural gas from east Siberia to the Bohai Bay region of northeast China. The announcement was made by Russia's vice-minister of energy at a forum of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, which consists of China, Russia and four central Asian states. Russia is also planning two pipeline projects to carry Russian oil to China, one from Siberia to Dalian, Liaoning province, and the other an extension of an existing pipeline from Nakhodka.
