China’s civil aviation authority announced it will require security checks at the entrance of more than 20 major airports around the country, state media reported. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said the tightened measures, which go into force on July 20, are to protect against disruptions during the Olympic Games. The checks will be implemented at airports in the six cities hosting Olympic events, as well as alternative airports in nearby cities. The CAAC has encouraged air passengers to arrive at airports earlier than usual to avoid missed flights.
