Today’s general trend is towards smaller, greener cars that run on electricity or hybrid mixtures. But that does not mean all of the public wants to go that way.
In China Buick is big. Shanghai GM has announced it will launch later this month the new Buick GL8 MPV, touted as a luxury people carrier for business people. The new model offers "improvements in design, power, control and technology" and will "create a new era for locally made executive wagons."
Engine options include a 2.4L Ecotec or a 3.0 V6 SIDI direct injection engine. The transmission is a six-speed automatic.
Gasgoo reports teaser images show that the production GL8 follows closely the template set by the Buick Business Concept unveiled at the 2009 Shanghai show, with Buick’s trademark chrome "waterfall grille" still there.
