Another Shanghai mall to open in April

The latest retailer to lease space in the Super Brand Mall, a new shopping centre in Shanghai’s Pudong district, is clothing retailer Esprit Holdings, said Somkit Tantadvanichkul, president of project developer Shanghai Kinghill. Tantadvanichkul said about 85 per cent of the mall’s retail space was let, with several international designerlabel tenants having signed up. The 13- storey, US$335m Super Brand Mall is scheduled to open in April.

Shanghai Kinghill is a unit of Hong Kong-based Chai-Thai Group, which is itself owned by Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group. The company also plans to develop the Super Brand Mall into a wholesale food and fashion centre aimed at foreign firms looking to sell products in China. More than 500 Thai food manufacturers had shown an interest in exporting their products to China.
