Apple (AAPL.NASDAQ) is poised to hold product launchs in Beijing and California almost simultaneously on September 11, fueling speculation that the company may announce a long-awaited deal with China Mobile (CHL.NYSE, 0941.HKG), Financial Times reported. An invitation sent to Chinese media on Wednesday revealed the Beijing event to be held hours after the latest iPhone is expected to make its debut at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters. UBS (USB.NYSE) has estimated that Apple could sell 17m iPhones through China Mobile next year if Apple can sign a deal with the Chinese mobile giant.
