Approval for storage system providers

The Ministry of Railways has given two foreign companies the go-ahead to compete for contracts to upgrade China’s data-storage facilities, reported South China Morning Post. Hitachi Data Systems and EMC will vie with each other to supply advanced storage systems for passenger ticket bookings that will replace the outdated infrastructure used in 14 railway bureaux and 44 large stations. All new contracts are due to be awarded this year, said an executive from Hitachi.
