The Argentinian coast guard sank a Chinese trawler after it attempted to ram a coast guard boat when confronted for fishing illegally in Argentina’s territorial waters, Reuters reported, citing a statement from Argentinian authorities. The coast guard said shots had been fired into the fishing boat’s hull after it ignored radio calls to allow the coast guard to board, as well as repeated volleys of warning fire. The Chinese boat’s crew abandoned ship when it began to sink, with four rescued by the coast guard and the rest picked up by another Chinese vessel that had been shadowing the pursuit.
