Automakers plan for more exports

Chinese carmakers Geely Group and Cheery Automotive are gearing up to expand overseas, buoyed by strong sales at home at a time when Volkswagen and Toyota are slowing down, state media reported. Both Cheery and Geely have their sights set on the US and European markets. Geely exported 5,200 cars in 2004 and plans to more than double its exports this year to 12,000 units, aiming to eventually have two-thirds of its sales outside China.
