Zhejiang is home to one-in-five auto parts makers in China
Since China began its economic reform and market liberalization some 20 years ago, Zhejiang has evolved from scratch into a major auto-parts production base consisting of seven main zones producing vehicles and auto parts: Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Taizhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing, and Jiaxing, all of which are interconnected by a convenient freeway network.
CENS.com reports that by the end of 2006, China was home to some 6,142 auto-parts makers scattered across the five major areas with about 20% of them in Zhejiang.
