Bank credit rating system launched

The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) announced the launch of a credit rating system for joint-stock banks.

The system is intended to increase supervision over joint-stock banks such as Minsheng Bank, which recently admitted to forging a shareholders meeting.

The CBRC said that credit ratings will be based upon a bank's capital adequacy ratios, asset security, liquidity, management and profitability.
