BASF, the world's largest chemicals manufacturer, is to build a US$1bn integrated polyurethane plant in co-operation with four domestic partners and US-based Huntsman, Shanghai Dailysaid. The project is expected to start production in three years.
The plant, to be built in Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park in the Caojing district of the city, will produce methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and toluene diisocyanate. These materials are used to make polyurethane, with applications in the motor vehicle, construction materials, household electrical appliances and textiles industries.
