China has told the US that it is committed to new sanctions against North Korea, AFP reported, citing a US official. As part of an effort to "put a straitjacket" on Pyongyang, Washington has set up an inter-agency team to coordinate with other countries. "[China is] certainly saying quite strenuously that they are deeply committed to full implementation of the provisions that are in the [UN] resolution," the senior administration official said. "The real test now will be in implementation." Beijing has been criticized by the US Congress for its lack of willingness to carry out sanctions against North Korea. US Senator John McCain last week said Beijing had been unhelpful on the issue of North Korea.
