While China welcomed the three-year textile import deal with the US, it lashed out against American "restrictive" actions that damage trade, reported the Hong Kong Standard. "[The US] frequently takes restrictive measures against Chinese textiles products, greatly destabilizing orderly development of trade," said a Ministry of Commerce statement posted on its website. The new deal, reported the AP, imposes annual limits on 34 garment types and textile imports. Increases for clothing imports are 10% next year, 12.5% in 2007 and 15% to 16% in 2008.
