Beijing Enterprises Vice-Chairman and President Zhang Honghai revealed that beyond winning its contract to build a water treatment plant the redchip plans to bid on a waste treatment plant and a 10 km Capital Airport link ahead of the 2008 Games, according to a report in the South China Morning Post. Zhang reportedly told the shareholders' annual general meeting the company had set aside US$72.2 million for the three projects in a bid to capitalize on the capital's pre-Olympics infrastructure boom. Infrastructure projects accounted for nearly 63% of the company's US$58.1 million profit last year. Beijing Enterprises holds a 50% stake in the water plant and wants to take a 33% stake in the waste treatment facility.
