Beijing Olympics hotel reopens to business travelers

Olympics Intercontinental HotelThe 420-room, 18-story, multi-million-dollar Intercontinental Beijing Beichen, once home to the world’s top athletes, is now open to business travelers and the general public.

Designed by international architects RMJM of London, the hotel has been refitted after hosting the athletes during last year’s Beijing Olympics.
RMJM also designed the nearby 443-bed, four-star China National Convention Center Grand Hotel, two office blocks and a retail mall in a fully integrated master plan to support the Convention Center’s commercial goals.
The steel-and-glass Intercontinental Beijing Beichen is diagonally opposite Beijing’s "Bird’s Nest" stadium and has a bridge to the National Convention Center.

Real Estate Channel said the Convention Center initially housed the biggest media center ever built in the history of the Olympics, hosting 20,000 journalists from around the world reporting on the Games.
