Beijing reaches out to HK democrats

At the prodding of Hong Kong leader Donald Tsang, Beijing has invited Hong Kong's entire legislature, among them staunchly pro-democracy legislators who have been barred from entering the mainland, for a two-day official trip to Guangdong, according to media reports. Beijing has branded Hong Kong's pro-democracy politicians as unpatriotic traitors for opposing many of Beijing's mandates. The trip was negotiated by Tsang who said the lawmakers would attend briefings with mainland officials.
