Beijing road collapses in flood

Construction workers had to swim to save themselves in Beijing after sewage from a leaking pipe flooded into the underground site 50 meters below ground, reported the South China Morning Post. The flood brought down a 20-meter section of an inner-city road near the East Third Ring Road’s Jingguang intersection in the central business district. Work was underway at the No 5 subway line in preparation for the 2008 Olympics.
