China’s State Council said that the country would continue to suspend additional tariffs on US vehicles and auto parts after April 1 as a gesture of goodwill, following the US decision to delay tariff increases on Chinese imports, said Reuters.
Beijing announced in December that it would suspend the additional 25% tariffs on US-made vehicles and auto parts for three months, after there was a truce in the trade war between the US and China.
“It is a positive reaction to the US decision to delay tariff hikes and a concrete action adopted (by the Chinese side) to promote bilateral trade negotiations,” the State Council said.
The Chinese government said a separate announcement would be made in regard to when the suspension will end.
