Bill Gates has urged China’s super-wealthy to give more to charity, South China Morning Post reported, citing an editorial by the world’s richest man in Monday’s issue of People’s Daily. Gates currently runs the US$40.2 billion Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has been working in China since 2007. In his editorial in the official newspaper, Gates appealed on China’s rich to “invest in the poor” for their own sake. Most wealthy Chinese do not engage in philanthropy. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg donated more than China’s 100 most charitable entrepreneurs combined last year, according to Chongqing media.
