Residents in Beijing and Henan Province have contracted bird flu, prompting fears that China’s entire eastern seaboard is at risk as the death toll climbs in Shanghai, Bloomberg reported. A 7-year-old girl is being treated in Beijing for the new strain of the avian virus, known as H7N9. That case and two cases in the central China province of Henan raised the number of infected people to 60 on Sunday, up from 49 the day before. Officials reported new cases in the coastal provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu as well. Two people in Shanghai died of the flu Sunday, putting the number of dead at 13.
