Its Chinese partner is China Mobile and both are standing mute on launch date even though the company announced last year that it had won approval to distribute them in China.
Charles Liu, RIM’s general manager for China, says ‘soon’ and that is it.
Officials of China Mobile also said they cannot say when it might happen but handsets will go to corporations, rather than individual consumers.
RIM has been planning to sell its devices in China since 1999.
Charles Liu has revealed some of his planned tactics for marketing the BlackBerry in China as and when. BlackBerry will be positioned as a kind of advanced cellphone with the added feature of e-mail.
