British PM talks GSK on China trip

British Prime Minister David Cameron discussed the problems of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK.LON) with Chinese leaders on Monday when he visited China along with GSK CEO Andrew Witty, Reuters reported. Cameron emphasized that the drugmaker, which is under investigation for alleged bribery, needs a more transparent and predictable business environment. It is Witty’s first visit to China since the corruption scandal blew up in July and a GSK spokesman said his presence underscored a desire to continue operating there. GSK is Britain’s largest pharma business and a major employer of skilled workers, including many scientists.
