Budget hotel chain GreenTree Inn looks overseas

GreenTree Inn, a domestic budget hotel operator, announced that it has begun to look outside of China to expand its business. An executive told China Business Net (in Chinese) that GreenTree Inn has plans to explore mid-market hotel sector in the US, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, South Africa, Japan and Thailand. GreenTree’s first overseas business hotel will begin operation in India in the coming June. The executive said the company, which has over 200 budget hotels in China, decided to shift its core business into the mid-market as domestic budget hotels face fierce competition. GreenTree Inn has already developed serviced apartment in Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.
