US President George W. Bush’s special envoy for Tibet will meet with the Dalai Lama on April 21, the highest-level diplomatic meeting between a Western government and the exiled leader since the Tibetan riots in China in March, AFP reported. Under Secretary of State Paula Dobriansky is expected to discuss the Tibetan crisis and highlight the US government’s call for dialogue between the Chinese government and the Dalai Lama. A spokesman from the Chinese embassy in Washington criticized the planned meeting as undue "external interference" in China’s affairs.
