Carlyle commits US$27m to two tech firms

US-based Carlyle Group said it invested US$27m in two mainland companies through its US$170m Carlyle Asia Venture Partners II fund. The private equity investor said it invested US$14m in game developer and entertainment portal 9you, better known as Runstar International offshore. Carlyle said it was partnered with China Merchant Fortune Ventures and Sino-Korean Wireless Fund. The New York-based investor also agreed to partner with Chengwei Ventures and Pacific Venture Partners, investing US$13m in Shanghai-based semiconductor design house Huaya Microelectronics.
