Increase in textile machinery imports

China imported US$1.314bn-worth of textile machinery in the first half of 2002, a year-onyear rise of nearly 6 per cent. The biggest increases were recorded by weaving machines, up 43 per cent to US$316m, and knitting machines, up 59 per cent to US$228m. Textile machinery exports climbed 12 per cent to US$142m.
