China's foreign trade shows little sign of flagging and by the middle of this year it had replaced Canada as the world's fourth largest trading nation, according to World Trade Organisation statistics. Coming behind the US, the EU and Japan, China's foreign trade is the highest of any developing nation. Its exports of information technology rose by 20 per cent last year, while the rest of the world's dropped by 14 per cent. Exports and imports of commercial services rose by 9 per cent, while global services trade fell by 1 per cent.
