Cathay Pacific plans to take on Dragonair

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways has applied to the SAR's aviation authority to resume flights to Chinese cities. The carrier transferred its mainland flight rights to Dragonair in 1990.

Cathay and its parent Swire Pacific still own 25.5 per cent of Dragonair, but rivalry between the two airlines has grown following Dragonair's inauguration of a Hong Kong-Taipei service in July.
