China’s top prosecutor is investigating a senior executive at state broadcaster CCTV on suspicion of bribery, Reuters reported, citing a Xinhua report. Guo Zhenxi, CCTV’s advertising director and director general of its finance and economics channel, has been detained in Jilin province along with Tan Liwu, a producer on CCTV’s finance channel. The government has boosted a crackdown on corruption and extravagance among officials since President Xi Jinping’s appointment last year. The broadcaster has also faced growing criticism for poor programming.
