[photopress:ceibs.jpg,full,alignright]The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) held its second annual ‘Beijing Globally Responsible Conference’, with the focus on corporate social responsibility. There were over a dozen speakers and attendees from over ten universities throughout Asia.
William Valentino, general manager of communications at Bayer China, gave a talk on tools MBA students need to build sustainable businesses.
Junie Tong, founder of Catalyst Foundation and Global Dialectic, provided attendees with a seminar on the interdisciplinary ‘finance-in-society’ model with Chinese characteristics.
Danny Levinson, publisher of the daily ChinaCSR.com website and the monthly China CSR magazine, gave a workshop on how CSR managers can best juggle their responsibilities with media outlets and how todifferentiate the various types of media.
The objectives of the event was, in part, to educate students about corporate social responisbility as a corporate strategy, and not simply being volunteerism nor making donations.
Other speakers came from York University, International Finance Corporation, Global Institute for Tomorrow, United Nations Global Compact Program, Environment News Trust, Transparency International, UNDP, and the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau.
