Chaos at HK pop idol's concert

Scuffles erupted outside a concert held in Wuhan by Hong Kong Canto-pop heartthrob Andy Lau, a Hong Kong newspaper reported. The concert venue was said to be packed with fans when security officials shut the doors, leaving some 50,000 others stuck outside hoping to get in. Fistfights broke out, and one door was smashed in as fans fought to get inside the concert. Several people were injured and riot police were called in to help calm the crowd, the Oriental Daily News said. Lau himself tried to calm the crowd inside the venue, but was forced to end his show early and was later whisked away in a fire engine, the newspaper said.
