Taiwan President Chen Shuibian called for improved relations with Beijing during a speech after his inauguration to a second term as president. Chen said stabilizing relations with the mainland will be a top priority after months of steadily rising tensions between the island and the mainland. State media recently labeled Chen a ?trouble and crisis maker?, warning him not to continue efforts to declare Taiwan independant from the mainland.
