According to the government’s three-year plan on the development of the logistics industry recently announced Chengdu has plans to become the largest aviation logistics hub in western China. The idea is that ten international air routes will be added over the next three years. Chen Zhongwei, director of the Modern Logistics Development Office of the Chengdu municipal government said under the plan, there will be non-stop flights from Chengdu to Tokyo and Dubai in 2010. In addition, air express flights between Chengdu and Beijing, Shanghai as well as Guangzhou will be launched to shorten the travel time to less than one hour.
Chengdu Airlines is also scheduled to be inaugurated in January.
China Knowledge reports in the next three years Chengdu expects to build four logistics parks and four logistic centers, with a targeted industrial value-added output of RMB50 billion.
