China abided by WTO committments: Foreign ministry

China has abided by its World Trade Organization accession obligations and commitments "earnestly", the foreign ministry said ahead of a visit by US Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, the South China Morning Post reported. "We have implemented our obligations and commitments earnestly and have abided by the rules of the World Trade Organization," spokesman Qin Gang said. The comments followed a report released on Monday in the US which said Washington would not hesitate to pursue sanctions if China fails to live up to its WTO pledges. Paulson, who will be in Beijing Thursday and Friday, downplayed expectations of major agreements but has billed the trip as part of a long term "strategic dialogue".
