An official in China's space program announced that China and
Brazil intended to continue cooperating in developing, producing and launching earth
resources satellites. The announcement was made after the launch of a rocket carrying an
earth resources satellite jointly developed by China and Brazil and a Chinese
communications satellite into orbit.
China and Brazil plan on putting two
more earth resources satellites into orbit by 2010. The two countries put their first jointly
developed satellite into orbit in 1999.
