China bans US poultry imports

China banned imports of poultry products from the US after reports of avian flu emerged from the eastern state of Delaware. The Ministry of Agriculture and the country's quarantine agency jointly announced the suspension of new import permits for US poultry.

The government organs also announced that they cancelled all previously issued import permits. US poultry products that arrived after February 7 but did not undergo customs declaration and inspection procedures were scheduled to be destroyed or returned.
