China By Numbers: Rewards, funeral jobs, blocked roads and arrests

Some China-related numbers that you may have missed:

US$44,000 – The reward offered for a gunman who shot and killed a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) sentry outside of a PLA garrison in Chongqing municipality last week.

3,200 – The number of people that appeared at a funeral industry job fair on Saturday in Shanghai. The job seekers were competing for 400 positions including gravestone designers and make-up experts for corpses, as well as customer services and archivist positions.

1,000 – Employees of Linzhou Iron & Steel who blocked a road in Henan province on Saturday. The workers were demanding unpaid wages as well as social security and health insurance premiums and compensation for laid off workers.

100 – People arrested in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Golog in Qinghai province after they attacked a police station over the weekend.
