China, Cameroon strike water deal

Cameroon and Chinese firm CGC Overseas Construction have reached a water purification and distribution deal in Douala, the African country's economic capital, AFP reported, citing Cameroon media. The project will be financed by a US$24 million loan from Beijing and includes the construction of pipes, wells and a potable water treatment plant. Set to begin in January, the project will boost annual water production capacity in Douala from 115,000 to 260,000 cubic meters within a year.
