China’s top climate envoy has criticized Europe for failing to meets its previous greenhouse-gas commitments The Wall Street Journal reported. "Europe made a lot of commitments. But if you compare those commitments to actions, there is a big disparity," said Yu Qingtai. He added that Europe had failed to meet its previous promises to cut greenhouse gasses and deliver on technology transfer and aid to poor countries. Yu’s comments come just two weeks ahead of the Copenhagen climate summit at which countries will try to agree on a successor to the Kyoto Protocol. While repeatedly calling for a global agreement on carbon emissions, China has ben unwilling to commit to the kind of sacrifices needed to reach one, saying the burden lies on wealthier nations.
