The head of China’s delegation to a UN conference criticized developed nations’ lack of aid money to assist developing countries in combating climate change on Thursday, Reuters reported. Delegation head Su Wei expressed dissatisfaction during the current UN Climate Change Conference COP 20 taking place in Lima, Peru in response to the US$9.7 billion of money pledged for a new UN Green Climate Fund aimed at helping developing nations fight global warming. Developed nations agreed in 2009 to mobilize US$100 billion a year from both public and private sources by 2020 to help poor nations, and are still far short of this goal. In particular, China called out Australia, which contributed nothing.
