China on Thursday downplayed an alleged cyber attack on the French Embassy website in Beijing, saying that there was no link between the site’s shutdown and a recent diplomatic dispute between the two countries over Tibet, AFP reported. "From the perspective of the Chinese government, China is against the hacking of the websites of the embassies of other nations," a foreign ministry spokesman told journalists. "We have not seen any questions or concerns raised by France." However, a French diplomat said the embassy’s website had been accessible for several days due to a cyber attack following French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s weekend meeting with the Dalai Lama.
