China denies link to convicted Boeing spy

Beijing denied links to a Chinese-born engineer who was convicted in the US last week of stealing trade secrets for the Chinese government during his 30-year career at Boeing and Rockwell International, AP reported. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The allegations about a Chinese person [former Boeing engineer Dongfan "Greg" Chung] stealing trade secrets in the US for China is purely fabricated out of ulterior motives." Chung was found guilty of six counts of economic espionage and other charges for hoarding 300,000 pages of sensitive documents in his home, including information about the US space shuttle and a booster rocket. The US government alleged that Chung began spying for China in the 1970’s.
