China Eastern, China Southern to get capital boost

The parent companies of China Eastern Airlines (CEA) and China Southern Airlines (CSA) will each receive a US$440 million capital injection from the government, Bloomberg reported, citing the Oriental Morning Post. The parent companies will get the funds within this year and then inject the money into their listed units. CEA, CSA and Air China, the mainland’s three biggest carriers, posted third-quarter losses on higher fuel costs and slowing demand.
