The Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines states its net profit in 2010 would hit a record high of RMB5.4 billion (US$816 million), 10 times that of 2009. This is due to the booming air travel in China.
The company said in a statement that in addition to brisk rise in air travel, the merger with Shanghai Airlines helped increase profits.
Trading Markets states the period also covers the six-month Shanghai World Expo brought large numbers of customers.
