China Eastern Airlines is set to buy an additional five regional jets from Brazil's Embraer, the world's fourth-largest maker of commercial aircraft, at a list price of US$100m, the Standard of Hong Kong reported. The sale advances Embraer's effort to steal China's market share from larger rival Bombardier. China Eastern agreed in March to buy five ERJ 145 aircraft from Embraer's US$25m manufacturing plant in Harbin city, where the five additional aircraft will also be made. Embraer foresees demand for more than 600 regional jets in the Mainland over the next two decades, the newspaper reported citing Guan Dongyuan, Embraer's chief China representative.
