China-Europe satellite launched

The first joint China-EU satellite was launched from Xichang in southwestern China's Sichuan province. The satellite, part of the China-European Double Star project, was carried into space via a Long March rocket.

The satellite is the first high-altitude orbiting satellite launched by China. It will be used by China and the European Space Agency to study the earth's magnetic field and observe storms in space.
